• Welding NZEW provides safe and quality welding services for all materials. Our quality standards are among the highest in the industry, with Welder Certification maintained by an electronic Welder Management System at the corporate office.

• Boiler Fabrication NZEW provides custom fabrication of all boiler pressure parts, including Air Pre Heater, Economizers, Header, Bed Coil, Super Heater Tube & Bank Tube.fab boiler drums and heaters.

• Metal Work Fabrication of certain metals requires a level of expertise not found in all fabrication shops. The staff at NZEW has experience working with various metal types, including carbon, chrome, stainless, and copper.

PROJECT PLANNING SERVICES

Dedicated project planning - NZEW offers expert project planning, from constructability to schedule development and more.

Through a series of specialized analysis and upfront planning, NZEW takes project planning off your plate. Allowing NZ Engineering Works to assist you with project planning gives you access to some of the most experienced project planners in the industrial service industry.

Budget Assistance During the proposal phase, both marketing and engineering departments join forces to assist clients in developing a preliminary budget. By determining project and investment specifications, NZEW uses several preplanning steps to provide expert budgeting recommendations.

Constructability A constructability analysis can assist in determining the optimal construction processes and work methodology. NZEW can assist with determining materials, plans, scheduling, and outage timeframes, as well as comparing the benefits of modularization vs. field assembly.

Schedule Development NZEW specializes in developing schedules for planned outages. By optimizing resources beginning in the planning stages, NZEW constructs an outage schedule that will allow the work to be done in a safe, quality manner while minimizing downtime.

Scope Development Project planning often involves preplanning activities such as scope development. NZEW can coordinate scope development for a wide range of situations, including Order of Magnitude, Annual Inspect and Repair, and Capital Expenditures.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT SERVICES

Concept to completion - We provide turnkey project management service, from budget development to outage assistance.

Project Management at NZEW takes your project from concept to completion. NZ Engineering Works provides full-service project management capabilities for projects of all sizes. By employing NZEW to fully manage your next project, you are putting years of plant management experience to work for you .

Budget Development NZEW budget development falls in to one of three categories:

• Order of Magnitude Budgets are ideal for projects at the plant or feasibility levels.
• Firm Price Bids encompass projects with a defined scope or written specifications.
• Time and Materials Budgets are primarily for repair work.

Outage Assistance With more than 20 years of experience in outage assistance, NZEW understands the importance of the critical path of an outage. The ability to identify problem areas in advance enables effective communication, elimination of interference between entities, and reduction in schedule slippage.

On-site Services Prior to beginning any project, NZEW conducts an on-site visit to address any constructability or accessibility concerns. Through spending time on-site, NZEW is able to develop a methodology for the project and evaluate concrete needs such as the benefits of modularization vs. field assembly.

Schedule Tracking Schedule tracking and maintenance at NZEW is achieved through management by experienced superintendents and foremen. Prior to each shift, project managers compare actual progress to scheduled progress and manage any concerns to keep each project on track for its scheduled completion.

BOILER STEAM HEADERS

Our skilled welders and pipefitters can manufacture headers and fittings to meet your exact requirements. We have the tools and resources to pre-assemble headers and other fittings in our shop so that our boiler installation projects go smoothly and stay on schedule. If you have a need for customized pipe headers and fittings.

Headers form an important part of all types of boilers. Steam from the generating tubes is collected in headers which are therefore always under pressure. This pressure may vary from 300 psi to 2000 psi. Since headers are always under pressure, the utmost care is taken by us while fabricating them. Depending on the generating capacity of the boiler the header sizes fabricated by us vary from 100 mm to 600 mm NB. The stubs of various sizes are very carefully welded to the main body of the header to provide the desired openings from the headers

Bevelling and weld preparation of stubs duly tack-welded to the main body of the header are first shown to Chief Inspector of Boilers for his approval and once again the stubs fully welded with main body are shown to Chief Inspector of Boilers under hydraulic pressure, varying from 1000 to 3000 psi as required by the specifications. The headers are stamped by Chief Inspector of Boilers before they leave our manufacturing plant. We also weld skubolets and weldolets in place of stubs.

STUD WELDING

NZ Engineering Works provides professional stud welding services for major industries, including Pulp and Paper, Power and Utility and Chemical and Refinery.

Stud Welding Capabilities Our experienced stud welding team is capable of installing a wide range of studs for common boiler types, including recovery and power boilers, two of the most common applications for stud welding field service.

We provide the latest in chrome-infused studs with superior corrosion and erosion resistance, guaranteeing a level of performance and reliability that few can duplicate.

Our stud welding capabilities include:

• Installations - 3/8" and 1/2" diameter
• Higher quality, chrome infused 1/2" diameter studs designed for recovery boilers - longer life than plain carbon steel studs
• Diffusion coatings for both shop and field applications
• Chromizing services to achieve corrosion/erosion resistance for the Pulp and Paper and Utility industries

BOILER CLEANING SERVICE

Scale forms when minerals in boiler water settles out on the inside of boiler surfaces. Scale accumulates when improperly treated water comes in contact with the hottest parts of the boiler. The most common components of scale are lime, magnesium and iron oxides (rust). Scale acts as an insulator, preventing the heat from the burner to reach the water. This increases boiler flue temperature (more heat is lost up the stack) and can lead to damage to the boiler.

Chemical Cleaning – Descaling Services

Chemical descaling and cleaning are two of the most efficient and effective ways to remove built-up scale on industrial water systems. Over the life time of water systems, scale, greases and oil build up within the system, especially in systems that have not been regularly maintained with adequate water treatment systems and flushes. Systems located within hard water areas are also more susceptible to excessive scale build up, resulting in low fuel efficiency and heat transfer.

This build-up of scale and other system deposits can greatly reduce the efficiency of system parts such as boilers and heat exchangers, and can be difficult to remove with general cleaning. A boiler with just 1mm of scale deposit can waste up to 9% of its fuel intake as it struggles to heat system water, heat exchanges with high levels of scale deposit can decrease the system pressure along with wasting fuel as heat transfer becomes less efficient.
